The article focuses on hedge fund marketing tactics and the sometimes questionable strategies of financial firms – many of which tout their “open architecture” – to market their proprietary hedge funds to clients. However, Mr. Zeuner points out that, rather than “run for the hills”, advisors should re-examine how clients measure risk, what returns they are seeking, and how hedge funds can appropriately fit into a portfolio allocation.
