WE Family Offices Advisor Richard Zimmerman to Moderate Impact Investing Conference Panel

WE Family Offices Advisor Richard Zimmerman will serve as a moderator at the upcoming Opal Group Impact Investing North Conference in New York City on Sept. 12.

Zimmerman has more than two decades of experience working with wealthy families, providing advice and oversight regarding their overall wealth management needs. Richard also has a passion for sustainable and impact investing and philanthropy. He holds a Sustainable Investment Professional Certification (SIPC) with the John Molson School of Business as well as numerous financial industry designations. Drawing upon his expertise in ESG and impact investing, Zimmerman will facilitate the conference session titled “Learning from Impact Investors: Stories from the Trenches of Impact Investors.”

Impact investing – or as we call it, values-aligned investing – looks beyond the traditional financial measures of an investment and evaluates how to integrate environmental, social and governance factors into an investment philosophy. This often helps a family become more connected to their investment portfolio by incorporating their family values into their portfolio investment strategy. For example, a family may care about education, healthcare, diversity, or clean energy, so we consider the best companies and investments in these areas for their portfolio.

“Aligning a family’s values with their portfolio is something we’ve done for a long time at our firm, and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to share the knowledge we’ve gained in this area of impact investing with our colleagues in the industry,” says Zimmerman.
