Richard Zimmerman Speaks on Portfolio Construction for Impact Investing

While most family offices likely understand the importance of aligning investments with values, creating a portfolio that achieves true impact is often a difficult task. To help address this challenge, WE Family Offices Partner Richard Zimmerman utilized his decades of values-aligned investing experience as a featured speaker at Opal Group’s Family Office & Private Wealth Management Forum 2021.

For this event, family offices, private investors and investment managers were brought together to educate affluent families on how to create portfolios that can not only navigate through the global pandemic but also build wealth for generations to come.

While this event covered a wide variety of financial topics, Zimmerman spoke on a panel titled, “Total Portfolio Construction,” which examined the topic of portfolio construction for impact investing. Zimmerman specifically discussed aligning business with values, alternatives to traditional strategy plays and understanding diversification and performance within an impact investing portfolio. He also provided insight to frequently asked questions in the impact investing space, including:

  • Does the “returns trade-off” perception still exist?
  • How can portfolios profitably reflect values?
  • What are the very first steps family offices should take?
  • Who is responsible for driving impact initiatives?

Opal Group’s Family Office & Private Wealth Management Forum 2021 took place in Newport, Rhode Island from July 19 – July 21. To learn more about this event, click here.
