Richard Zimmerman Shares Expert Insights on Impact Investing at ESG Events

Driven by a desire to generate both financial returns and positive environmental outcomes, investors are increasingly turning towards impact investing. To help family offices understand how they can align their portfolios around environmental themes, Richard Zimmerman, partner at WE Family Offices, recently shared his expert insights at Phenix Capital’s Impact Summit America.

During this impact investing conference, Zimmerman and fellow leaders in the ESG space came together to support the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and promote sustainable investing that goes hand-in-hand with market-competitive returns.

To help investors get insights they need to achieve impact goals while also generating returns, Zimmerman moderated and spoke on an investor panel, The Power Struggle: Investing in the Energy Transition without Burning Out. As the energy transition in the U.S. continues to be a complex issue with far-reaching environmental and economic implications, this discussion explored the challenges and opportunities of investing in the transition to a low-carbon economy.

“The U.S. energy transition is the shift from fossil fuels to clean energy sources, such as renewable energy and nuclear power,” Zimmerman explained to attendees. “This transition is driven by a number of factors, including climate change concerns, economic opportunities, and technological advances, including increased investment in renewable energy, declining use of coal, and growth of the electric vehicle market.”

Throughout the panel, Zimmerman also highlighted the importance of the Inflation Reduction Act as a tailwind to the energy transition. Ultimately, this session brought forward arguments on how investors can allocate their resources and create a meaningful impact mandate for the energy transition in the U.S.
